| THE BOYS CELEBRATE LA SEMANA SANTA |
|
The boys enjoyed fun and refreshing respite from the ardors of classes and homework to celebrate the Holy Week. The boys ran from their books like… well, school boys from their books and got the chance to stretch their legs in the paradisiacal mountainous countryside that surrounds Jovenes en Camino.
We took several walks through the hills underneath bright blue skies and the warm rays of a smiling Honduran sun. Along the way the boys amused themselves by finding colorful lizards, capturing loudly buzzing bugs from nearby bushes, picking fruit, and singing praise songs. In the sanctuary of creation, one of the house parents would lead a devotional beside the still waters of a cool creek or from atop a tall hill. These invaluable, daily lessons consist of scripture, praise, worship, and prayer and are fostering a deeper love and understanding of Lord in the hearts and souls of the boys.
Other outings that week included trips the pool, the river, the soccer fields, and to visit the quaint neighboring town of Guinope. The boys enjoyed a relaxing and fun filled week of excursions and discovery. But on the Tuesday following Easter Sunday it was back to work as the boys donned their uniforms, hoisted their backpacks, and headed to school.
